It has been a successful first half of the year on the sports field for Tatworth primary school - both locally and county-wide.

In football the boys reached the semi-finals of the south Somerset section and the girls went all the way through to the county stage where they eventually lost to the winners, finishing in third place.

There was more success in mixed hockey, with Tatworth qualifying through two stages to again reach the county finals ending as undefeated champions.

On the cricket pitch the boys team qualified through to the South Somerset stage before exiting. However the girls once again made it through to the county finals where, this time, they were forced to settle for runners up after losing a close final.

Said a school spokeswoman: “This has been a quite exceptional year of success in sport for Tatworth where there has also been wins in cross-country and rounders to go with all the other stand out performances.”
