The East Devon District Council Countryside team is taking on the South West Coast Path Challenge next month.

They will be walking from Exmouth to Axmouth – a 22 mile section which includes some steep climbs and tough terrain.

The team will be setting off at 9am on Sunday, September 30, and aim to finish by 6pm in Axmouth.

Some members will be walking the whole route, with supportive friends, family and volunteers joining the team to walk sections or to provide snacks and drink at planned rest points.

The walkers are raising funds to support the South West Coast Path Association, the charity that works to protect and champion the National Trail.

Cllr Tom Wright, EDDC environment spokesman said: “It is fantastic the Countryside team along with their friends and families will be using their weekend to walk a beautiful but challenging section of the iconic 630 mile route.’’
