A TEENAGE moped rider was treated for burns after a crash on Harepath Road in which a car and a moped burst into flames.

The 16-year-old male rider of a black Derbi moped was transferred to the burns unit at Frenchay Hospital, in Bristol, following the accident on Monday evening.

The driver of the red Kia Sedona car was treated at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital for minor injuries. Firefighters from Seaton and Colyton were called out and both vehicles were badly damaged by fire.

Both men are believed to be from Seaton. The road was closed until 3am whilst police collision investigators carried out a full examination of the scene.

Police said a 49-year-old Seaton man was arrested later on suspicion of dangerous driving. He was taken into custody at Heavitree Road police station.
