TWO teenagers stranded on a cliff in Axmouth were airlifted to safety by helicopter on Saturday (July 26). The 16 and 17 year-olds were rescued from the 100 feet ledge at Haven Cliff, while another youth was on the beach below. A helicopter was called from RAF Chivenor when it was apparent it would be too dangerous to send in a cliff rescue team. Lyme Regis lifeboat crew landed one member to assist ashore, while illuminating the area with searchlights. The two were winched to safety at the top of the cliff at 23.44pm.
