Tenders sought for Seaton Beach Management Plan

The tendering process for consultants to undertake work to create a Beach Management Plan for Seaton has started.
It follows agreement on a brief for the project by statutory and local stakeholders.
East Devon District Council (EDDC) has begun the tender process to find and appoint a consultant who can undertake the analysis of flooding and coastal erosion issues affecting Seaton and to write a BMP for the town.
The council has already received a good response to its tender with expressions of interest from 11 companies, the majority of which are based locally, with excellent experience of managing coastal erosion and flooding issues in the district.
Once the tender process has been completed, the council will appoint the successful consultant towards the end of March 2017 with a view to completing the BMP in autumn 2017.

Commenting on Seaton’s BMP, Cllr Iain Chubb, EDDC’s portfolio holder for the environment said: “Seaton’s BMP is a vital tool for managing the town’s beach and minimising the risks of flood and coastal erosion.
“It will take into consideration the many different uses and functions that the beach fulfils and, hopefully, will provide stability or better still improvements to them.
