The annual Jolly Good Jaunt has been a big success since it was launched in 2014.

This year’s event is on Sunday, October 23, at the Deer Park, near Honiton and as before will give walkers the opportunity to dress up in tweed, have a fun day out and raise vital funds for popular local charity Hospiscare.

But the continued success of the Jolly Good Jaunt owes a huge amount to the generous support of sponsors such as Tesco, which has supported the Jaunt from the start.

This year, Tesco is not only giving Hospiscare bread rolls for 500 participants as they have done previously, but also is providing water, chocolate bars and bananas for everyone taking part to ensure energy levels do not flag during the 7.5-mile-long sponsored walk.

Duncan Sheridan-Shaw, store manager has been a keen supporter of the event which will raise funds for Kings House.

Indeed, he is even known as ‘Tweed Duncan’ because of his love of tweed, the Deer Park and the Jaunt!

Duncan said: “We love the Jolly Good Jaunt because it is so embedded in the local community.

“Kings House has and does impact on so many people’s lives – everyone knows someone who has been looked after by Hospiscare in one way or another. We want to ‘pay it forward’ and get every shop in the community involved – and we see the Jolly Good Jaunt as a great opportunity to make a difference through a brilliantly enjoyable event which really embodies Honiton.”

Hospiscare is holding a Promo Weekend at the entrance to Tesco, Honiton, for the weekend of September 23/24 to promote the Jaunt.

Tesco has also provided a generous ‘afternoon tea’ hamper to be raffled off as part of the event. You can also sign up for the day there or by using the contact info below.

Hospiscare has also received amazingly generous support from other local businesses, which add to the feel of the event being local, with local people attending, local businesses supporting and helping a local charity.

Hospiscare is also keen to thank Denhay for providing the pork, The Deer Park for the venue, 4 Paws Adventures for providing a doggy station and Devon Hog Roast for providing food (namely, a Hog Roast!).

It is through support like this and these donations in kind that enable Hospiscare to put on these events and enable our supporters to have such a great time for a good cause.

There is just over a month to go until this year’s Jolly Good Jaunt.

Hospiscare is a local charity, providing free, high-quality care and support to people with a progressive life-limiting illness, and those close to them, in Exeter, East and Mid Devon.
