I would like to express my thanks to all who took part in the by-election for a district councillor in the St Michael's Ward of Honiton on February 26.To all those residents who gave me time on their doorstep, often in freezing winds, rain and even snow, I am extremely grateful. I now know what your concerns for Honiton are. Please contact me if there are any specific issues which you think need addressing.I would like to thank the Conservative candidate for his fair and friendly campaign. Many issues arose which affect the whole of Honiton. I look forward to working on them with Phil, and the present county, district and town councillors for the benefit of everyone in Honiton.I have already been in contact with the Electoral Registration department at East Devon District Council to try to resolve the polling station issues before the county council elections in June. It makes no sense for those people who wish to take part in the democratic process to have to travel across Honiton to vote. To everyone who said there is no point in voting - the Conservatives always win here - I hope I have proved that when candidates are willing to work for a different point of view to be heard they can and do win!Marion Olive Liberal Democrat Councillor for St Michael's Ward of Honiton
