Axminster group celebrates its third birthday with a special party

Axminster Memory Café has been celebrating another milestone.

Formed three years ago by a volunteer group from the town’s senior forum, Rotary club, and local mental health care team, the organisation has gone from strength to strength.

Members meet on the third Monday of each month from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the Conybeare Ward of Axminster Hospital.

Last week’s special birthday meeting celebrated three years of support for sufferers and carers of those with memory problems, early dementia and Alzeimers.

Enjoying an afternoon of ‘Sing-a-long bingo’, sorting through a treasure trove of memories from the memory box, drafts, soft darts and colouring, some 20 clients and their supporters clapped as the birthday cake was cut by senior forum chairman Margaret Spencer-Brown, and Jeanette Ward of Conybeare.

New Members are always welcome and can attend without notice on an afternoon meeting or just turn up for a chat to discuss their needs.
