The Office for National Statistics has charted the UK's ageing population, which shows the figure could increase as people continue to retire to the coast.
West Somerset had the highest, with the average age at 52. East Devon
figures show the average age as 48.9 in 2008 - 9.6 years more than the UK value of 39.3 years.
