Axminster company gears up for fundraising bike ride

A new skills-boosting team at Axminster Tools and Machinery is gearing up to take on a fundraising cycle ride for charity.

Members of the company’s latest Aspire learning and development programme are being tasked with a variety of challenges.

The first is to organise a cycling event to raise money for Hospiscare to support the building and ongoing maintenance of the charity’s new day centre in Honiton.

It will take place on Sunday, May 31, in Axminster, and the team is already well under way with the planning of the project, which they have named Ax-Pedition.

Participants will have a choice of three routes, depending on their stamina and ability level. All routes will start and finish at Axminster Town Football Club and take riders across parts of Devon, Dorset and Somerset. A website clearly illustrating the routes has been set up at www.ax-pedition.co.uk and there are details about the day and even a ‘sign-up’ function for anyone wanting to take part.

Other team members have been in contact with local businesses to let them know about Ax-Pedition and many have expressed an interest to get involved. The team is keen to make this an event for Axminster and hope to see it continue into the future. On the day, Axminster Football Club will put on a fun day with a bar, food from local suppliers plus entertainment and live music from local talent.
