I have a weakness for books – people who I meet who knew me growing up in Honiton remember me as a bookish, quiet boy; not that many would say I was quiet these days, but I still love books.
I love the escape and imagination I find in a good novel, or even in a very good history or philosophy book!
Of course, the book I love most is that book of books that Christians call The Bible – which I am told is ‘boring’, but that’s not my experience.
The Bible is full of all parts of life, with history, poetry, philosophy, romance, biography and wisdom all mixed together. Rather than starting at the beginning and ploughing through, I’d recommend reading the stories of Jesus in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, then get to know a book all about God’s relationship with those he loves, with all humanity.
