HORDES of people lined the streets of Weston to watch the town’s spectacular carnival on Monday night.

After months of preparation the event once again triumphed as the hand-painted and brightly lit floats displaying haunted mansions, Jurassic park, Santa’s workshop and the Wild West snaked through the streets and along the seafront.

After improvements were carried out on the seafront two years ago, the carnival was moved back to its traditional route. And hundreds of residents and visitors to the town set up deckchairs and huddled in groups to watch the floats stream through Alexandra Parade, Alfred Street, the Boulevard and the seafront. This was also the last year the carnival was held on a Monday night and next year will be moved to Friday.
