A RAVE night held in Axminster to celebrate the life of a Seaton man who died in a car accident has raised nearly 2,000 for charity.

Over 200 people attended the event at The Guildhall in memory of Will Kelland, who died on March 20.

The event has raised 1,900 for the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital hip unit - where Will had been treated in the past.

Will's family have thanked people for fundraising for the charity and holding the rave night in Will's memory.

In a joint statement, parents David and Georgina, and sister Claire, wrote: "We would like to thank everyone - customers, friends and family, for all your help, support and kind words though a very difficult time after the loss of William, our son, Claire's brother.

"Thank you to all William's friends, who made the tribute night a success. There were great DJs, and it was a great night.

"Thank you DJs Beneye, Iain Cross, Dave Moore, Robert Edmeades, Richard McGuire, St Clare and Son and Country Motors."

Will, 23, was killed instantly when his Honda Civic hit a gate post and wall at a farm in Musbury.

The family, who own and work at Prospect Garage, in Lyme Road, said they hoped the rave night would also help raise awareness of the charity.

The garage workshop has resumed its former opening hours.
