THOMAS Whitty House in Axminster will be the fitting venue for the launch of an exhibition showing the development of the world famous Axminster Carpet.

THOMAS Whitty House in Axminster will be the fitting venue for the launch of an exhibition showing the development of the world famous Axminster Carpet.The event, in Silver Street, will open on July 2 and tell the story of how the Axe Valley market town became 'home' to a multi-million pound industry. A replica of the first 'Axminster' of 250 years ago will be on display. The exhibition will be open from noon to 4pm, Wednesday to Friday, and on Saturday mornings until September 27.
