Thefts top Honiton’s monthly crime stats

The latest monthly crime statistics for Honiton show a drop of six offences compared to the same period last year.
In a police report, presented to Honiton Town Council at its recent meeting, it said that between Monday, May 9, and Sunday, June 12, there were 36 recorded offences, compared to 42 for the same period in 2015.
Of those offences, three were burglaries of a house. A person has been charged with one of the alleged offences, said police.
Police said there were also five thefts from a shop and eight ‘other’ thefts. Items stolen include a bicycle, while goods were also taken from a car.
The report also showed there were three sexual assaults in Honiton, two assaults resulting in actual bodily harm and one common assault.

One person was arrested.
The remaining incidents, said police, were six criminal damage offences - two on a vehicle, three to buildings and one to a fence.

A man had also been charged after allegedly kicking his way into Honiton’s police station.
It was reported there were also four harassment offences and four ‘other’ offences, which consisted of false imprisonment, a communications act offence, possession of cannabis and fraud.
