AXMINSTER police are warning residents to be vigilant following a spate of thefts from vehicles.A window was smashed and items stolen from a vehicle parked in Trinity Hill yesterday at 12 noon.Beat manager PC Darren Herridge said most incidents took place between 3pm and 4pm, particularly at schools - where drivers thought it was safe to leave their vehicle briefly unlocked.He said: "Despite repeat requests in the newspaper for people not to leave valuables on show, the message doesn't appear to be getting through."We live in a nice part of the world, but we shouldn't be complacent. We need to take responsibility for our property.
