Police urge home owners to install security devices in their domestic fuel tanks
AROUND 600 litres of domestic fuel oil – worth hundreds of pounds – has been stolen from a house in Charmouth.
Police say it was taken from a tank at a property on the eastern end of the village some time between February 1 and February 10.
Local neighbourhood beat manager PC Richard Winward said: “The theft of heating oil is a constant problem, and we can offer advice to owners of oil tanks. Alarms can easily be fitted that activate when there is a sudden drop in level - such as when it is being drained. Homeowners need to think about the security of their oil.”
