Honiton’s Christmas lights will shine bright next weekend following months of steady fundraising.

Duncan Sheridan-Shaw, chair of Honiton’s Christmas Lights committee, said the lights, which will be installed on Monday, will be switched on between 5pm and 5.30pm on Saturday, November 17.

The festive occasion will also feature live music and entertainment - starting from 4.30pm on the Saturday.

Mr Sheridan-Shaw said: “Hopefully, Honiton will be more Christmassey this year as we have had a lot of shops involved, which will be doing festive windows.

“To date, we have around £6,300. What we do not need, we will roll over for next year.

“Once we start getting money rolling in again, we will start planning for 2019’s lights display.”

Dozens of people and companies have rallied this year to donate towards Honiton having an impressive array of Christmas lights.
