I’ve had a lot of conversations lately about ‘labels’ that people use in the church – traditional, modern, evangelical, Catholic, conservative, liberal, high, low and all flavours in between and mixed up.
Though I think there’s a place for these things in trying to understand where we are or what we believe I think that in the end there’s only one label that is important for a Christian, that is ‘Christ Follower’.
All of us are on a journey in faith, what some would call a ‘pilgrimage’, we move and learn, we grow and develop.
I don’t think God wants us to hold on to a label and never shift – and I sometimes wonder if those who think they’ve ‘arrived’ when it comes to faith, are those who haven’t fully taken on the mystery, challenge, joy and struggle of the life long, and eternal, journey of following Jesus.
