Do you ever worry that God is keeping an eye on you? That God perhaps disapproves of what you say, or do, or think?

Do you ever worry that God is keeping an eye on you? That God perhaps disapproves of what you say, or do, or think?

We often think of God as being like a guilty conscience, or a stern parent who tut tut’s at us as we go through life and stands in judgement over our actions.

That’s not the picture the Bible gives us, though. You could even say that it doesn’t matter what you do, it matters whether you are with God and want God with you in what you do.

Being good doesn’t make you a Christian, and being a Christian doesn’t make you good. As Christians we believe following Jesus influences our actions for the better – but that comes from a relationship with God, it’s not a way of making us closer to God.

God can transform our lives, but our relationship with him comes first.
