Often, for those of us in ministry, it takes a discussion with a family in preparation for a funeral to discover the depths and abilities a person has and I find many of the funerals I take are celebrations of amazing lives with some incredible stories to tell, even in their everyday lives.

I don’t think that in my years in ministry I’ve met one person who doesn’t have something worth celebrating in their life, no matter how ordinary they seem, and if we take time to find out about our family, friends and neighbours we can be surprised by what they’ve done and who they are.

We shouldn’t hear about it for the first time at a funeral tribute, though, it’s worth celebrating those who share our lives whilst they are still with us!
