The commercialisation of Christmas.

Lots of people become cross at this time of year, complaining about the excesses and commercialisation of Christmas, and they have a point.

The way we celebrate Christmas has come far from the simple family meal, church service and giving to the poor that used to be the focus of this time of year.

Yet, at the same time, celebrating love, peace, hope and joy is a good thing; parties, family, friendships were all things that Jesus enjoyed and took part in and he described God’s kingdom as being like a celebration, a feast!

So enjoy the good parts of the life we have, yet remember the reason for our Christmas celebrations are the simple message of God’s love in sending his Son to be one of us, and always make time to remember, pray for and to give to those who do not have what we do.
