People often say to me ‘I wish I had your faith’ - it’s not that I am especially holy or glow in the dark, but vicars hear this a lot.
My reply to this is: “You do”. We all have faith in something - we trust our family or friends, the authorities, the law of gravity, money, the list goes on. Whatever it is that we find comfort and strength from we have faith in.
My faith in God, who I believe to have shown himself in Jesus Christ and lives in me by his Holy Spirit, isn’t just an intellectual one. It’s not that I have all the mysteries in earth and heaven sorted.
I trust God to be with me always, that is my faith – a matter of heart as well as mind. We all have faith in something. Hopefully that faith isn’t in something that will fail you.
