When the ordinary is special.
I was a bit stuck thinking of something to say this week – last week was easy, I had to mention Mothering Sunday, next week is Palm Sunday and the week after Holy Week and Easter.
This week, though, is ordinary – at least in terms of what’s going on in our Churches. But it struck me that God is as much a part of the ordinary as the special events in life.
Sure, lots of us only go in through the door of a church for special, or sad, events but that doesn’t mean that God isn’t around for everything else.
My experience of faith is that with God, even the ordinary becomes special, every day is full of new life and hope and the love of Christ, or as one poet, Gerard Manley Hopkins, wrote ‘The earth is charged with the grandeur of God’. God is in the everyday.
