Happy for some things to remain a mystery.

I’m not stupid; having faith doesn’t mean you’ve turned your brain off.

St Paul wrote many years ago that trying to show how clever you are by telling people your qualifications is “speaking like a fool”, so I won’t list all my qualifications, but will say that I’ve spent years studying, reading and learning.

I think I have a pretty good handle on many things and continue to love reading, thinking, discussing, debating and writing. But there comes a point in my faith where I have to say ‘I don’t understand’ – some things remain a mystery. This Thursday is Ascension Day, when the Bible says Jesus went up to heaven 40 days after being raised from death.

I don’t know how it happened, but it reminds me that God’s way of doing things is bigger than my, or any, brain can understand. I’m happy with some things remaining a mystery.
