Even vicars are on Facebook.

I have a bit of a thing for what is known as ‘social media’ – connections I have made on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and Blogspot have been valuable and very worthwhile.

They’ve given me help with sermons, Thought for the Week material and support in difficult moments.

Social media is all about making connections and it’s possible to say that’s what life is about too, certainly the Bible says that we’re all made to be in relationship with each other and with God.

When asked what the most important teaching of Scripture was, the greatest commandment, Jesus said “Love God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind” and “love your neighbour as yourself”.

Seems pretty straightforward to me and very hard work – I believe we need to love and know God to be able to truly love other people and even to love ourselves fully and without limits.
