Man in hospital after suffering serious facial injuries
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a reported assault in Lyme Regis.
At 1.04am on Sunday August 6 police received a report of an assault outside an address in Hill Road.
It was reported that the victim, a man aged in his 20s, had sustained serious facial injuries after being hit with a metal bar. He is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
Officers attended and, following enquiries, three men were located at a nearby address and arrested on suspicion of assault.
A 34-year-old Lyme Regis man has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and assault. He was due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court yesterday, (Monday, August 7.)
A 33-year-old Lyme Regis man has been charged with assault and possession of the class B drug cannabis. He is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday September 4.

A third man, aged 36 and from Lyme Regis, was released without charge.
Detective Constable Nick Gravenor, of Weymouth CID, said: “This incident is reported to have started shortly after midnight near to the junction with Mill Green before moving up Hill Road toward the main car park.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed the alleged assault, or who has any information about the incident, to contact me.”
