POLICE chased a car in Honiton for eight miles after it failed to stop - causing three occupants to stop near Smeatharpe and flee on foot.

Police said a 40-year-old man was caught nearby and a dog led officers to an address about two miles away, where a 25-year-old Cullompton man and a 19-year-old woman from the Honiton area were found.

They were arrested, said police, on suspicion of being unfit to drive through drink or drugs, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, and one man was also arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. All three remain in Exeter custody.

Police said the chase began at around 9.40pm on Monday, March 16,through Dunkeswell and Hemyock, and police put out stinger devices to stop the vehicle.

A property was searched and police allegedly found an outhouse with 40 cannabis plants and a suspected cannabis factory.
