MEMBERS of the Three Cups action group have been give a guided tour of the hotel, which has been closed for 20 years.
It was the first time many of the group of eight visited the building, owned by Palmers Brewery, on Monday, November 9.
The tour was arranged by Nigel Jones, of Chesterton Humberts, agents for Palmers, after discussions with the chairman of the action group John Dover.
Vice chairman David Parker said: "It was a fascinating visit and much of the interior of the building appears to be in remarkable condition when you consider it has been closed and unused for 20 years.
"It is a complex building and there are some very interesting features such as the Georgian staircase at the rear. Mr Jones was a pleasant and friendly guide and we came away with the feeling that serious consideration is being given to returning the Three Cups to its former glory as a hotel.
