An Offwell motocross rider has capped off a dream weekend with a double header in a prestigious hill climb.
Tim Dallaway, of Fern Lane, was one of 16 riders personally invited to compete in the All Stars Invitation Race at Red Marley Hill Climb, held in Great Witley over the Easter weekend.
The race’s hill is quarter-of-a-mile long and its gradient reaches almost 1:1.5 near the top where there is a challenging jump known as the ‘pimple’.
Riders compete four at a time from a standing start and the first two over the finish line progress to the next round.
Tim clinched victory in the final of the All Stars race, completing the ride in 20.10 seconds.
What’s more, his time was the fastest recorded which got his name etched on the prestigious Silver Helmet trophy, which recognises the quickest time of the day.
“I have ridden in the Red Marley six or seven times but this year is the first time I have won it,” Tim said. “It really means a lot - we have spent all year looking forward to this.
“A lot of work has been done on the bikes.
“This has been one of my career highlights for sure.”
Tim’s father, John, said that motocross has run in the Dallaway family since the ’50s.
“Tim has had the most success out of everyone though,” he added. “He has ridden motorbikes since the age of four, and he is now going to compete in the British Championship.
“I am extremely proud of him - all the family were there cheering him on and he did us more than proud.”
