Apprentices from Seaton and Axminster are named top of their year groups

TWO Axe Valley students, working to build a future in the construction industry, have been given a career boost.

Leigh Beer, of Axminster, has been named plumbing apprentice of the year by Exeter College, while Jake Dack, of Seaton, took a similar award on his carpentry course there.

The two former Axe Valley Community College pupils joined other winners, from the various college courses and year groups, to receive their certificates “in recognition of their hard work” at a ceremony yesterday.

Speaking beforehand, Head of Exeter College construction faculty, Chris Whitaker, said: “We are looking forward to acknowledging our students’ achievements and also the essential support of local employers who continue to provide vital employment opportunities for young people as they enter a career within the Construction industry.”
