Top botanist to give lecture

A FORMER director of Kew Gardens will give this year's Offwell Lecture.

A FORMER director of Kew Gardens will give this year's Offwell Lecture.Professor Sir Ghillean Prance, who is now the scientific director of the Eden Project, in Cornwall, will be sharing his expertise on the biological evidence for climate change.A spokesman for Offwell Environment Link said: "From the Amazon rain forests to the introduced jungles at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, this eminent man has pursued his life-long passion for plants in all their forms and glory. He brings an expert botanists view to shed light on this topical subject."The lecture, which is in its 12th year, is set to take place at Offwell Village Hall, on Thursday, December 4, at 7.30pm.Admission is free, although donations will be welcomed, and booking is advisable.To do so, call Gill Graham on (01404) 831375 or email enquiries@oelink.free-online.co.uk.
