SEATON Town Hall could get a 30,000 cash injection to improve facilities, promote activities and employ young people in the area.

Seaton Town Council is poised to offer the money to a community group to run the hall, provided it meets conditions.

Seaton's Voice aims to kick-start better use of the hall and provide equipment, such as a WIFI hub, computers and dance mats, a move welcomed by the council.

The group, formed eight months ago, hopes the hall will hold more events and be more widely used by residents and tourists. An employment programme for young people has already been set up.

Group chairman Carol Manley said: "We are delighted that the council thinks this is an excellent proposal and that they have agreed to support our funding request.

"We will endeavour to get them the information they require as soon as it is practical, because every delay means the community has to wait for the facilities it so desperately needs, particularly the young people."
