HONITON had 10 Police Community Support Officers to start with because the town was a pilot area. The success of the pilot meant some of the PCSOs were redeployed to other areas. However, Inspector Jim Gale says Honiton is still well blessed."We have got five PCSOs, more than any other town in my sector."Addressing a police authority liaison meeting at Honiton Community College last week he said he was surprised to hear a suggestion that PCSOs are now rarely seen out-and-about.He said they were often the first thing people referred to when speaking to the police, with individuals even recalling conversations they had recently had with PCSOs.
