The votes are in and the electorate who took part in the town poll have voted against proceeding any further with the community centre in Honiton.
The final count of the town poll, which was held yesterday (Thursday), stands at 680 against and 443 in support.
More than half - 60.5 per cent - voted no while 39.4 per cent voted yes.
The total turnout for the poll was 13.03 per cent.
However, one ballot paper was rejected.
Honiton Town Council is expected to discuss the result at its annual meeting on Monday (May 14) at 7pm in the council chambers.
