Lifeboat and helicopter called to assist pair stuck on a ledge above a deep ravine
Lyme Regis lifeboat was launched on Saturday to assist in the search for, and rescue of, two men trapped on a cliff east of the town.
The men were located from the sea by the lifeboat crew who then assisted coastguards and the rescue helicopter in reaching the men.
Lifeboat helm Tim Edwards said: “We located the men between Black Ven and Charmouth. They seem to have been trapped on a ledge above a deep ravine.”
Both men were winched to safety by the coastguard helicopter and landed at Charmouth where they were met by coastguards.
The lifeboat launched at 2.40pm and returned to harbour at 4.30pm. This was the 21st emergency call for the RNLI volunteers this year.
