A Honiton church is set to light up with a festive glow as the town prepares to hold it’s annual Christmas tree celebration.

The popular event sees several organisations and businesses around the town decorate a Christmas tree, which is then shown off in the church throughout the beginning of December.

This year’s celebration will be held from Thursday, December 8, to Sunday, December 11, with plenty of live music on offer. The aim of the event is to draw people together from different parts of the community while raising much-needed funds for repairs to St Paul’s Church.

Event committee member Becca Bradley-Carter said: “This is the third year of the popular event and is hoped to be the best yet.

“This year, there is the added bonus of live musical entertainment from local groups. The event opens at 9.30pm on the Thursday, and there will be a carol service on the Sunday, at 3pm. There will be late-night opening on Friday, December 9, until 8pm, so you can pop in whilst doing your Christmas shopping in town.”
