The chairman of TRIP Community Transport Association is standing down from her role next July, after serving the charity for more than 20 years.

Val Royle first became chairman in 1995, when she and others decided there was a need for a community transport association in Honiton and surrounding areas.

In 1997, TRIP was formally launched - and Val has been at the helm ever since.

Val said: “After 20 years in the role, it is time for someone else to take over.

“In 1995, TRIP was just an idea and I am very proud of how it has developed over the years.

“I think the biggest achievement for me is the way that we have been able to increase our services, and keep hold of the key people within the organisation that are so vital to its success.”

Val says the new chairman role would most likely suit someone who was recently retired and was looking for a challenge.

She added: “I receive a huge volume of kind comments from our users, who say how vital TRIP is and how much they rely on its services.

“There is no need for the new chairman to put in as many hours, as I have done, now that TRIP is so well established.

“The right person will be backed up by a very experienced team in the New Street office and a highly-supportive management committee.”

The chairman is a voluntary position, but expenses will be covered. Anyone interested should contact TRIP on 01404 46529.
