TV Licensing - message to readers

Free licence from age of 75, but you must apply for it.

Following your article “In the dock, the future of the TV Licence fee… ” (August 31st), I would like to clarify a few points for your readers.

Firstly, you are entitled to a free TV Licence from the age of 75 and not 80 as suggested. This is not issued automatically and does need to be applied for.

Secondly, while students living in halls of residence and using a TV in their own room would need an individual TV Licence, those living in shared accommodation, where there is a joint tenancy agreement, would need just one licence to cover the property.

For further information regarding concessions, requirements for students or other TV Licensing questions, you can contact us at www.tvlicensing.co.uk or by calling 0300 790 6071.
