Simon Hall tells members about his love for words

BBC news reporter and crime writer Simon Hall was guest speaker at the annual meeting of the Axminster and Seaton Read Easy group on Tuesday (October 11).

He spoke of his lifelong love of words and of the power they have to change peoople’s lives.

Mr Hall is patron of the Axminster branch, and warmly endorsed their work of helping adult non-readers to move forward in their

lives.

The group’s co-ordinator, Sheila Abdy, reported that over the two years of its existence, 30 readers have enrolled, and at present there are 21 following the course. Each reader has an individual coach, and at the moment the group has 30 trained

coaches on its books.

Following his talk, Mr Hall awarded certificates to seven readers who had completed various stages of their courses. The meeting, at Axminster Methodist Hall, ended with refreshments.
