Lyme Regis was awash with celebrities as lifeboat week organisers welcomed some famous faces yesterday (Tuesday).

Lord Julien Fellowes, creator of Downton Abbey, the hit TV series, and his wife Lady Emma were VIP guests of the resort’s RNLI team.

Lord Fellowes boarded the harbourmaster’s launch with the mayor Michaela Ellis and town crier Alan Vian to start the tug-of-war across the harbour mouth between the lifeboat crew and the town’s football club. The footballers won two pulls to one.

There was also a surprise visit by BBC TV’s Question Time host David Dimbleby who sailed into Lyme on his yacht with his son, Henry, on his way to Dartmouth.
