TWO illegal immigrants were arrested in Axminster after been spotted selling tobacco.

Police caught the Chinese men on West Street around 3pm on Tuesday, July 22, after local businesses alerted them.

The men had been stopped on suspicion of handling stolen property after they were found with 169 packets of Golden Virginia 50g pouches between them.

A police spokesman said they had been handed over to immigration officers because one had over stayed his welcome and there was no record of the other man.
