Two other silhouettes have been vandalised.
One of Axminster’s ‘Silent Soldiers’ - a life-size tribute to the fallen of World War One – has been taken.
The wooden silhouette had been positioned near the Old Courthouse, in Lyme Road and disappeared last week.
It was one of several placed around the town by members of the local branch of the Royal British Legion to mark 100 years since the ending of the First World War.
Officials say they are extremely upset it has been removed.
Two other ‘Silent Soldiers’ – one at Millwey Rise and the other near the war memorial on the Minster Green - have been vandalised.
