POLICE have praised licensees in Honiton following a test purchasing operation, organised to help tackle the problem of under-age drinking.

Three establishments were visited by a test purchaser on Friday, September 26, and the youth was refused alcohol at each location.

Honiton Neighbourhood Policing Team worked in conjunction with Devon County Council's Trading Standards Department.

Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Jo Arundale said: "It is an encouraging sign that licensed premises are conscientious in their sale of alcohol.

"I would remind anyone involved with the sale of alcohol to always request ID, if there is any doubt as to the age of the buyer.
