Suspect in custody after vodka and cigarettes stolen from the Co-op by a man wielding a knife

A 26-year-old Axminster man has been arrested in connection with the Co-op robbery in the town centre on Saturday night.

Police say the suspect was apprehended yesterday (Sunday) morning and is currently being held in custody.

Meanwhile officers are appealing for witnesses after a man with a knife threatened staff at the South Street supermarket at around 9pm on Saturday before making off with cigarettes and a bottle of vodka.

Police want to hear from anyone in the area around that time particularly anyone who may have seen the man described as being dressed in a grey hooded top and dark tracksuit trousers. He may have been carrying a bottle of Vodka.
