HONITON: Murder investigation. Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was fatally stabbed near Honiton town centre earlier today
Detectives have launched an investigation following the suspicious death of a man in Honiton earlier today [June 6].
Police and ambulance crews were called at around 3.40pm following concerns for the welfare of the man at a premises in Dowell Street, near the town centre.
On arrival officers found the man, who is yet to be identified, dead at the scene.
Devon and Cornwall Police said he had sustained a number of stab wounds.
Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances of the man’s death.
Officers are appealing for anyone who may have information which may assist with the enquiry to contact them.
A cordon remains in place around the scene while a forensic examination is carried out by scenes of crime officers.
The incident is not thought to be related to acts of terrorism, police said.
• Police have arrested a 55-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He has been taken into custody at Exeter for questioning.
