Flowers have been laid following devastating house blaze

Floral tributes have been placed outside a home in Honiton following a devasting fire which claimed three lives.

Fundraising is under way in the town which is in shock.

Three youngsters have died following Friday’s devastating house fire in Honiton

A 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man lost their fight for life at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital on Saturday as a result of injuries sustained during the blaze at Lee Close.

Later police reported that a three-year-old boy, who was taken to the specialist burns unit at Frenchay hospital, had also died.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Our thoughts are with the family at this time and the investigation to establish the cause of the fire is ongoing.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious although police and fire investigators remain at the scene.

Eight people were in the house - seven members of a family and another person - when the fire broke out just before 8am.

A six-year-old boy and a man in his 30s were also treated in hospital for smoke inhalation following the fire.
