Lois Wakeman to retire after seven years in the post

Uplyme Parish Council is looking for a new part-time clerk.

After seven years in the role Lois Wakeman is to retire and says she is hoping to spend more time with her husband, camera and pottery - “in that order!”

She sais “The Council is a good employer and I shall very much miss working with them and local residents, but the time has come to pursue other interests while I still have the energy to do so.”

“Uplyme Parish Council is therefore looking for a part time Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer - which is one post – 15 hours per week including some evenings. The hours are flexible but you will need to be available for meetings at fixed times. Salary is in accordance with NALC & SLCC recommended rates, minimum £9.90/hour, starting 1st April 2016.

“The Council needs to find a good communicator, administrator and manager to support the work of the parish council, working from home, self-motivated, and ideally with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Training and qualification will be offered.

The closing date for applications is February 15.

To find out more about the job, which includes some evening working, call 01297 444707, or visit the council website at www.uplymeparishcouncil.org
