Blustery weather and rain failed to dampen spirits at the 54th Upottery Flower and Vegetable Show.

The event, which was held on Saturday (August 20) showed off several displays of local talent and effort.

A show spokeswoman said: “It was lovely to see new names on the winners’ list and new faces entering the classes.

“The children’s classes were very popular this year and for the second year running included entries from the Upottery Pre-school with some colourful animal pictures. Well done to all the two to four-year-olds who entered this class, with many getting commendations from the judge who found it a challenge to award the top three prizes.”

The adult people’s choice was a tie between Rosemary Arscott for her floral display and Ros Pollak for her artwork. They will share the cup this year.

The people’s choice for the children’s class was won by Ruby Parris, and this year’s winner of the most points in the whole show was Pat Carter, who scooped awards in both the flowers and vegetable classes. Pat’s cabbages also won the judges vote for outstanding vegetable exhibit. See all cup winners at www.midweekherald.co.uk
