As a resident of Jerrard Crescent, Honiton, I would just like so say it is a complete pain in the rear to come home from work to find, as the Herald so correctly called them, tight fisted car drivers clogging the road. Not only cars but commercial vehicle drivers park outside residents' houses. I wonder how they would like it if we parked outside of their houses. We have only lived here a little less than a year but, after talking to other residents who have lived here many many years, the fact of the matter is it is nothing to do with the rising price of parking charges. It's been ongoing for a number of years. I agree, it doesn't help the situation and it certainly does not help our situation as residents. The people who park in our area, some of whom are business people, should use the car parks instead of residential areas. It's no wonder the price of car parking is going up with people not using them. The council will be losing out, as will we as ratepayers, because somebody has to pay to maintain them - and if its not being paid for by motorists then it's down to all of us. Use the car parks, not our roads! We need residential parking restrictions in all the named areas in last week's paper, and more no doubt. The council could help this situation. If they gave us residential parking then people would have to use the car parks. That way we, as residents, would gain and so would the good old pay and display meter.
